Anna Saleem Högberg has been the head of Swedish aid in Somalia since 2022. Before that, she had the same job in Sudan.
The Somali government is said to have made a decision to expel the Swedish aid council in March, according to Global Bar Magazine.
A conflict-ridden relationship between Anna Saleem Högberg and the Somali prime minister and his office is said to be behind the expulsion, according to the newspaper's sources.
The newspaper writes that they have been in contact with several people within the Somali government who, independently of each other, confirm the information about the expulsion of the Swedish aid chief. At the same time, Somalia's government is keeping a low profile and has not communicated anything in official channels.
TT has sought comments from both the Foreign Ministry and the aid agency Sida, both respond that they cannot comment.
