The council should consist of the government's most important ministers and act somewhat like the government's security policy council, suggests S.

"There is a need to do more for energy security in Sweden," party leader Magdalena Andersson said at a press conference in Sundsvall.

The council should, according to the S proposal, kick-start more Swedish energy production, expand wind power, ensure that an energy policy agreement is in place, and ensure that electricity subsidies to households are actually paid out.

Good, says Pia Sandvik, chairwoman of the Swedish Industry Council:

"We have long called for a broad energy agreement, and from what little I have heard, a national energy council also sounds constructive," she says in a comment.
