When the government presented its spring budget amendment recently, the Social Democrats (S) accused it of lacking crisis insight.
The party demanded larger investments to support households and stimulate the economy.
In the Social Democrats' economic spring budget amendment, S agrees to most of the government's investments, including a temporarily increased ROT deduction.
We are actually only opposed to one proposal in the government's budget, and that is the deterioration of export support, says the economic policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg (S).
"Affects on the margin"
He thinks that the increased ROT deduction is strangely designed and late, but notes that even S governments have often used ROT to stimulate the construction industry.
In this construction crisis, we are not willing to say no to a measure that can, in fact, affect on the margin and enable some construction workers to get a job, says Damberg.
But we do not believe that this will turn the construction crisis around.
S wants to see larger investments for more housing, which was proposed in the party's budget motion last autumn.
Bank tax finances
In the spring motion, S proposes investments of 4.6 billion kronor more than the government. They are financed through a bank tax, which S has previously proposed.
When asked what S does to stimulate the economy, Damberg responds:
The most important thing is that we propose more money in ordinary people's pockets.
S proposes to increase the maintenance support by 500 kronor per month. They also say no to the deterioration of the high-cost protection for medicines.
Another proposal is 300 million kronor for lunch in schools even during holidays.
This is so that children can eat their fill even when schools are closed, says Damberg.
S also adds to the government's proposed investment in summer jobs for young people with 500 million kronor and 500 million kronor for social field assistants during the summer - among other things to prevent criminal gangs from recruiting young people.
To strengthen Sweden's long-term competitiveness, it is proposed that 167 million kronor be allocated this year to a three-year fund. The fund will attract leading researchers in strategic areas to Sweden.
S also proposes 300 million kronor to increase Swedish AI competence and competitiveness.
