"There has been a collapse in the mine and three people are injured. We were able to call the emergency services quickly and they have been taken to hospital," said Boliden's communications manager Klas Nilsson.
Nilsson declined to say whether the people are seriously injured.
The landslide occurred on Saturday morning, and the area has since been cordoned off.
"A landslide is a serious incident. We are now evaluating and seeing how we can take this forward."
Garpenberg, in Hedemora municipality, is Sweden's oldest mining area still in operation. Ore containing zinc, lead, silver, copper and gold is mined here.
