Free driver's license to young unemployed and trainee positions for newly graduated academics – The Social Democrats want to invest 2.5 billion kronor against youth unemployment.

The initiative is one of the largest in the party's upcoming budget proposal.

Ardalan Shekarabi, labor market policy spokesperson for S, notes that 17,000 young people registered with the Employment Service are long-term unemployed. The Social Democrats are now launching what is called a job contract:

We want you who are unemployed and are between 16 and 24 years old to be assigned to a job, education, work practice or training within three months, he says at a press conference.

S also wants to see a national program for reaching out to young people who neither study nor work, a group that today is estimated to consist of 130,000 people.

Similarly, S wants to invest 350 million kronor in extra jobs for young people, an opportunity to work a few hours a week already in high school age.

The driver's license initiative will be aimed at young job seekers between the ages of 18-24. Through an investment of 350 million kronor, 11,000-14,000 people will be able to get a driver's license.
