The new US policy has changed Sweden's security and economy, says the S leader from the stage in Almedalen.

The world of yesterday no longer exists. It will never come back, says the party leader.

Security, prosperity and community spirit should be in focus, according to her.

Economic growth is a prerequisite for a better life and a better everyday life, for each and every one of us, she says.

Criticizes the government

She criticizes the government for having allowed Sweden to get record-high unemployment, rising greenhouse gas emissions and "poorer families", and accuses the government parties of not actually having invested in schools.

They have no idea what we should live on in this country, she says and promises to "settle with the market failures that weaken welfare".

In an S-led government, she wants "the resources to schools, healthcare and care to be counted up every year", for child benefits to be increased, as well as pensions.

Earlier in the day, the Social Democrats presented a proposal to stop the closure of police stations around the country.

We want it to be regulated how long it should take from when you call in an emergency and need a police officer to when a police car actually arrives, says Magdalena Andersson.

"Creeps in"

In order not to make that work more difficult, the Social Democrats want to see an immediate stop to what they call "police station death", and mention examples such as Sölvesborg, Hallstavik and the police reception in Vansbro, until an investigation has mapped the needs.

We see how organized crime is spreading and trying to creep in and recruit young people in smaller towns, in smaller communities. So we can't have white spots there either, where you don't have control over how organized crime is spreading.

Magdalena Andersson ended the speech in a more hopeful tone, and urged everyone to educate themselves and develop when the future labor market makes new demands.

I know that the will of the Swedish people to do so is strong, it has always been. The responsibility and will to contribute to the common good is part of the Swedish spirit.
