The Swiss snowboarder Sophie Hediger has died in an avalanche accident in the Swiss Alps, according to the Swiss Ski Federation.
Hediger, who competed in snowboardcross at the 2022 Olympic Games, was 26 years old. The accident occurred in Arosa on Monday.
"A dark shadow has fallen over the Swiss ski family during the Christmas holiday", says the Ski Federation's chairman Walter Reusser.
Hediger took her two first podium places in the World Cup last season.
