Snow warnings are in effect from Thursday evening. Of SMHI's two warnings, one is from 8 pm and affects large parts of Dalafjällen, southern Härjedalen, and the westernmost parts of Hälsingland.

The other warning is from 11 pm and primarily affects southwestern Jämtland.

Cold air has moved in over the entire country, and it's already snowing partially in some areas. But towards the evening, it will get colder, and it looks like a significant amount of snow will fall, says SMHI's meteorologist Viktor Bergman.

According to SMHI, there is a risk of 5-15 centimeters of snow locally and hazardous road conditions due to the heavy snowfall.

Primarily, it's mountain towns like Särna in Dalarna, Funäsdalen, and Vemdalen. But it can also snow as far down as Sveg, says Viktor Bergman.

For everyone who has switched to summer tires on their car, it's time to be cautious on the roads. The extra weight of the snow can also increase the risk of trees falling on power lines.

It's not unusual to have snow in the mountains at this time of year. But to have such large amounts that it settles is unusual, says Viktor Bergman.

For the rest of the country, it looks like it will be cold, windy, and rainy on Thursday. It won't be until Sunday that the weather is expected to stabilize.
