Leading indexes on the American stock exchanges moved only marginally on Wednesday. The broad S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial index both rose 0.2 percent, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index increased 0.1 percent.
The risk of increased inflation is causing the central bank, the Federal Reserve, to delay potential cuts to the interest rate. This emerges from the protocol from the bank's latest meeting in January, published on Wednesday.
The bank's members emphasize that new tariffs, mass deportations of migrants, and an increase in total consumption expenditures can lead to price increases during the year. Therefore, they want to see "successful inflation fighting" before it becomes relevant to lower the interest rate.
The indexes on Wall Street rose slightly after the news from the central bank, insofar as investors were now affected by the Fed's protocol.
