"It feels both important and fun to showcase ski cross as a sport at the highest level in terms of riders and track in front of the Swedish audience, and at the same time have the opportunity to have family and friends there to cheer," says star Sandra Näslund in a press release.
It was in October that the organizer in Idre withdrew due to financial reasons. Since then, the Swedish Ski Association, together with the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), has been looking for a solution.
And they succeeded.
The World Cup final will be held in Gällivare on March 27–29.
"It gives our skiers the best possible conditions, strengthens the visibility of ski cross nationally and creates engagement far beyond the competition arena, both nationally and internationally," says Pernilla Bonde, Secretary General of the Swedish Federation.
"The fact that Dundret and Gällivare are taking on the World Cup final shows the power of Swedish organizing."
