Skara HF was formed on April 8, 1993, following a merger between Hangelösa HF and Stenums IF.
A little over 32 years later, the handball club played its first final against giant Sävehof, who won its 17th gold last year, its third in a row.
The season's surprise team and series winner Skara won the match 26–25 and led 1–0 in the best-of-five final series. However, it was thrilling in the end since Skara almost lost its entire halftime lead of four balls, 13–9.
The Swiss left-back Melanie Felber, 34, scored her ninth goal in the match to 26–23 with 50 seconds left in the second half. After that, Stina Wiksfors and Ida Sembe reduced for series two Sävehof, but time did not allow for another goal.
We come in with the energy we wanted and got a lot of help from this setting, says Melanie Felber to Handbollskanalen, according to SVT.
The next match in the best-of-five final series is played in Partille on Friday.
