Cheers, tears, a whirlwind of lilac-clad supporters and golden confetti. It was Skara's first National Championship gold ever, secured on Thursday. It was impossible to miss.
After the crazy final in Partille Arena – which was decided only in overtime – the exhausted but happy players celebrated the gold in a joyous frenzy.
I can't understand what has happened, says Emma Gyltman to TT afterwards.
It's probably worse being up there, she continues and nods towards the stands.
"Of course it's nerves"
The two initial wins in the final series paved the way for a gold party already on Monday. Then Skara was supposed to win the gold on home court – but the gold party was ruined and Skara fell instead to Sävehof.
Gold fever? Some claimed that.
Of course it's nerves, but no, says Emma Gyltman after the final win.
At the same time, it looked bleak for a while. But a dramatic turnaround in the second half paved the way for Skara, which directly after the break scored three quick goals.
It's completely crazy today. There are two winning teams that want to do everything to win. But we refused to give up today. There was no other option, says goalkeeper Isabella Mouratidou.
"Good morale"
After falling behind, coach Rasmus Overby – who previously won the National Championship gold with Sävehof – chose to take a timeout. It had an effect for Skara, which got back into the match.
It's good morale. I said we should continue and that we should step on it. Plus, we went a bit more offensive, says Overby.
For the players and leaders in Skara, the postponed gold party now awaits. What's on the agenda is, however, unclear.
Now we're going to celebrate. I don't know how, we haven't honestly talked about it, says Emma Gyltman.
