There are currently two departures between Stockholm and Narvik in Norway, but from April 13 this spring the Swedish Transport Administration has decided there will be only one train in each direction. Instead, the second night train will run between Umeå and Stockholm.
According to information provided to SVT, half of the workforce in Luleå, where around 90 people work, may be affected by layoffs.
"Negotiations are underway in Luleå, but it is still too early to say how many people will be affected," said SJ's communications strategist Peter Kraméus to SVT.
