"Both Simon and Bollnäs Bandy strongly condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine. We feel a deep sympathy with the Ukrainian people and the suffering caused by the war", the club writes on its website.
"We know Simon as a person with strong values and respect for other people, and we believe in giving people a second chance", says Mia Bolkeus, Bollnäs chairman.
Jansson has played in Russian Kuzbass for four seasons and has previously stated that he signed a contract with the club 13 days before the invasion of Ukraine, which took place in February 2022.
I couldn't buy my way out of it. It was completely impossible. Then I would have needed to take a large bank loan. Based on that, I chose to go back and play. Right or wrong, I don't know. People can have their opinions and criticism, and I respect that, said the 34-year-old recently to Bandypuls, according to Aftonbladet.
According to the newspaper Ljusnan, Simon Jansson, who previously played for Edsbyn and Västerås, is the only Swedish bandy player who chose to continue playing in Russia after the war started, and as a result of that decision, he has not been allowed to play with Sweden's national team.
