The SHL's audience success just continues.
For the third year in a row, the highest total audience is recorded with 2,417,984 spectators.
It is over 200,000 spectators more than last year when the hockey league also broke the audience record.
This season has also been the best of all time in terms of average audience per match.
It lands at 6,643 spectators – an improvement of the record from the 2011-12 season by 250 people on average per match.
"We have seen an increased interest in SHL in recent years and it's fantastically strong that we now break the all-time audience record", says SHL's CEO Jenny Silfverstrand in a press release.
The increase occurs across the board in the league, writes SHL, but a large part of the increase is accounted for by Brynäs.
Brynäs won the regular season as a newcomer and it has had an effect on the audience figures.
Brynäs has averaged 7,700 spectators, compared to Oskarshamn, which was replaced by the Gävle team, which averaged 3,110 spectators.
"The audience and the engagement they create at and around our matches is what is unique to SHL and that we are increasing in interest is also very much thanks to the audience themselves and the setting they create every match", says Silfverstrand.
The regular season ended on Tuesday and the playoffs begin on Thursday evening with the quarterfinals.
