The crash in November still bothers alpine queen Mikaela Shiffrin. In Åre's World Cup competition in giant slalom, she skied out already in the first run. The best Swedish performance came from Sara Hector, who finished in tenth place.

She got a bump in the snow, a bit of a twist, and it came to a complete stop. An unusual mistake for the world star.

It was in the giant slalom that she crashed and got a stick injury in her stomach that kept her out for over two months. Shiffrin then opted out of running the giant slalom at the World Championship in February, and said she was "mentally blocked" in the event.

She ran two giant slalom competitions in Sestriere after the World Championship, but finished 25th in the first and didn't even make it to the second run in the second competition.

It wasn't a great success for the Swedish women either. Sara Hector was in sixth place before the second run, but didn't make it.

Hector finished tenth, a full 2.56 seconds behind the winner Federica Brignone, Italy.

Lisa Nyberg climbed to a 12th place, which was a new season's best.

Alphand finished 18th and Lövblom 25th.
