The ultraorthodox party Shas members leave their posts in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition. The reason is delays of a bill that regulates military service for ultraorthodox men.

Shas announces that it will not leave the coalition and will not bring down the government.

The party writes, however, in a statement that it will "continue to lead the fight against the political and cruel persecution campaign that is directed against students in the holy yeshivas, who study Torah day and night for the sake of all Israel and for the success of the soldiers", reports The Times of Israel.

"When the status of yeshiva students is established, Shas will return to its positions in the government and in the Knesset", it says in the statement.
