The Swedish Police Authority has had uniformed police officers in the stands among supporters at several football matches at the start of this season. The latest was during the match between IFK Göteborg and Degerfors in the Swedish Cup.
After the match, several fans were reported to police.
The assessment on-site in the stands was that it had become too difficult to intervene when the crimes were committed. The police followed the suspected supporters after the match and instead intervened immediately afterwards, said local police chief Daniel Norlander.
Thanks to us being in the stands, no more crimes were committed.
The match ended 3–1 to IFK Göteborg.
