The Swedish Tax Agency's legal department concluded in 2019 that it could lead to discomfort for a child named Jihad, as the word jihad in media reporting is often associated with violent extremism.
The fact that six children with that name were still registered may be due to human error, according to representatives of the authority.
The name, which originally means struggle or striving, is common in the Middle East and can be borne by both Muslims and Christians.
