The health authority in the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas, reports that the people were killed and injured by gunfire when they tried to get aid, writes AP. According to witness statements to the news agency, Israeli soldiers allegedly fired at crowds.

According to Israel's military, they have fired warning shots at suspected individuals approaching Israeli soldiers near the distribution point in Wadi Gaza, where many people go several hours before opening.

"The warning shots were fired hundreds of meters from the distribution point, before its opening hours and against the suspected individuals who posed a threat to the troops," the Israeli military is quoted as saying by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Air attack

Since the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation took over responsibility for the distribution of aid at the end of May, at least 163 people have been killed and nearly 1,500 injured in shootings near the distribution points, according to AP.

At least eight Palestinians have been killed in an air attack on a home in Dayr al-Balah in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Al Jazeera Arabic reports. Many are also said to have been injured.

A total of at least 54 people have been killed in Gaza on the day, Haaretz reports.

Operation in Nablus

Israel has also launched what it describes as a large-scale military operation in the city of Nablus on the occupied West Bank. At least two people have been killed, according to Israel since they tried to steal a soldier's weapon.

AFP's correspondent reports that dozens of military vehicles drove into Nablus' historic center shortly after midnight, where a curfew had been announced the evening before. The soldiers were met with stone-throwing.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reports that "dozens" have been injured by tear gas and a handful from physical violence, and that ambulances have been stopped from entering the city.

Israel's military writes in a statement that they have searched 250 buildings and arrested six "wanted individuals".
