A teenager died in connection with an earthquake in the Turkish coastal town of Marmaris during the night. The girl was taken to hospital where she later died, writes Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on X.
The quake in the Mediterranean had a magnitude of 5.8, reports local media.
At least seven people were injured when they, in panic, tried to get out of their homes by jumping from windows or balconies, according to the governor of the coastal area. Initially, there are no reports of destroyed buildings in residential areas.
The earthquake was also felt on the popular Greek tourist island of Rhodes, where many were awakened by the quake.
