Unemployment has risen over a longer period and in February it amounted to 9.4 percent. The National Institute of Economic Research's assessment is that it will take time before a turnaround. To this can be added the geopolitical situation in the world, which creates uncertainties regarding the economic development ahead, affecting the labor market.

At the same time, a brightening is seen for the skilled workers in the private sector who are connected to the Trygghetsfonden TSL through their employer. This emerges after the organization has submitted its latest quarterly report.

The average number of layoffs during the first quarter has decreased by 14 percent, compared to the same period last year. We have seen a slow decline at the end of last year that has continued now, says Söder.

She emphasizes that the demand for skilled workers remains high and that there is also a shortage of labor in several industries, which is reflected in the figures. Of those who are laid off and apply for support from Trygghetsfonden, almost all find a new occupation quickly.

Over 90 percent have a new occupation within three to six months, says Caroline Söder.

The organization's mission is to help laid-off individuals to a new occupation through employment, starting their own business, or studies.

The individuals connected are skilled workers in the private sector covered by collective agreements within the Swedish Enterprise and LO's agreement area.

A total of 80,000 companies with two million employees in different industries are connected to Trygghetsfonden.
