The reactions are strong, from the Social Democrats and also from the Centre Party.
It shows once again that SD is not just any party; this shows derailed behaviour and threatening rhetoric, says Tobias Baudin, party secretary for S, and continues:
Now Ulf Kristersson must step forward, show backbone and put the country before election tactics.
C leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist also believes, in a written comment, that it is time for the Prime Minister to say whether Jomshof is a candidate for a ministerial post in a government after the election:
"Richard Jomshof's statement is completely unacceptable. He is of course free to use his freedom of expression as he wishes, but it is not suitable for government."
SD dismisses criticism
But SD dismisses the criticism. The party's press department writes that Jomshof has retaliated in kind against "attacks from leading politicians as well as weak editorial pages" against the SD over the years. Those who criticize Jomshof are now throwing stones from glass houses, according to the press department:
"Over the years, few parties have been as mocked as we have. We have been accused of all sorts of abominable isms without any reaction from the establishment."
The background to the attack on Magdalena Andersson was another post from Jomshof on Monday, in which he wrote about Aftonbladet's political editor-in-chief, Anders Lindberg.
That post contained a picture of the Norwegian politician Vidkun Quisling, who collaborated with the Nazis during the German occupation of Norway. After the war, he was executed as a traitor. The post also contained a picture of Anders Lindberg.
"The man on the left is Quisling. The man on the right is a Quisling," wrote Jomshof, who previously chaired the Riksdag's Justice Committee and is high on the party lists in the Riksdag election in September.
Reacted strongly
S leader Magdalena Andersson reacted strongly to the attack against Lindberg and told Expressen that she perceived the attack as "very threatening".
"Of course, even Magdalena Andersson is a quisling. They all cower before the Islamists, whose goal is to take our democracy and our country away from us," Jomshof writes on X.
The reason for the attack on Anders Lindberg, according to Expressen, is that Lindberg warned that Jomshof could become Minister of Justice in a Moderate-led, but SD-dominated government. Something that the editorial writer called a "nightmare."
