The head of Växjö Islamic school must resign, the School Inspectorate has decided. The reason is a film where he speaks in positive terms about jihad, reports Aftonbladet.
The School Inspectorate has come to the conclusion that the school leader in the film intended to educate children for religiously motivated, armed combat. Therefore, he is not considered suitable as a school leader.
In the film, he is heard calling jihad "Islam's pinnacle" and saying that jihad should be taught in schools.
A representative of the school's owner foundation has told the newspaper that the statement was misunderstood.
Jihad can mean armed combat, but is also used as a concept for peaceful spiritual striving within Islam.
