"We have a toxic cocktail for inflation, with several negative external factors and no hopeful signs whatsoever," SBAB chief economist Robert Boije says in a press release.
If mortgage rates increase by 0.75 percentage points, the cost of a SEK 2 million mortgage would rise by SEK 15,000 per year, excluding the effect of the interest deduction.
According to Boije, mortgage borrowers should expect interest rates of around 3.5–4.0 percent, but they could be even higher, he adds.
“Global developments, and therefore the forecast, are uncertain,” Boije says.
