The report, to be released on Monday and which SVT has read, says the budget for 2026 is extensive. Borrowing to fund higher defense spending, outside the framework of the state budget, is "short-term political action," the council's experts write, according to SVT.
The way the Tidö parties are acting now is pushing the spending forward while also borrowing from the existing budget for 2026.
"It is remarkable to argue that it is necessary to deviate from the balance target in order to cope with the increased defense spending in the short term, while it is obviously possible to further reduce income tax by a similar amount," the report states, according to SVT.
