The great Johannes Høsflot Klæbo - who won all six of the Olympic gold medals in Italy in February - won by a landslide in Finland. The Norwegian was 22 seconds ahead of his compatriot Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget at the finish.
Third-placed Korosteljov was just under 34 seconds behind Klæbo, who secured the overall World Cup victory this season with the win.
Russian and Belarusian skiers were suspended from the Ski World Cup after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but in December they were welcomed back under a neutral flag.
Korosteljov was the only Russian male skier at the Olympics. There he finished fourth in the skiathlon and fifth in the 5-mile race.
The best Swede in Lahti was Johan Ekberg in 20th place (+1.14 minutes).
"I see that as approved. I'm satisfied," Ekberg told Viaplay.
On Thursday, sprint competitions await in Drammen and on Saturday, the 5km in Holmenkollen. The World Cup season then concludes in Lake Placid, USA, 20–22 March with 10km individual start, sprint and 20km mass start.
