The battle for victory offered a dramatic duel between France and Norway. Vebjørn Sørum shot himself out and Émilien Jacquelin held on to French victory.
Behind them, Sweden, Germany, and Slovenia fought for third place.
Samuelsson was the strongest there.
An unexpected development considering how the Swedes started the relay.
A tough start for us. I didn't quite know how far I had to go to reach the podium, but I saw that it was possible, says Samuelsson to SVT.
Viktor Brandt, who went first, took three penalties but set extra shots.
I'm holding it together better than I thought before. This is not my favorite track, says he to SVT.
"Really damn bad"
In the heavy tracks in the snowstorm, he still managed to keep Jesper Nelin in contention for a podium spot. Nelin was secure in the prone position, but then came the problems.
It ended in a penalty round and the chance of reaching the podium drastically decreased.
He was most annoyed about the first shot, which was rushed away. A really gross penalty.
That was probably the worst series I've done. It was really damn bad. I'm boiling. I should be able to start over and forget about it, says he.
Nelin dropped to tenth place and left it to Martin Ponsiluoma and Sebastian Samuelsson to try to advance in the field.
Solved the task
A difficult but not impossible task. Samuelsson started 29 seconds behind third-place Slovenia. Despite an extra shot, Samuelsson left the prone shooting position just seven seconds behind new third-place Germany.
After the standing position, he was first out and held on to a podium spot despite a penalty round and 14 extra shots in total for the team.
We're on the podium and there are still things we can do better. I think we should be satisfied, says Sebastian Samuelsson.
