We can already see today that certain groups of academics are in fact losing out on studying, and making the economic situation worse by penalising studies, by not making them pensionable, would be devastating, says Saco chair Sofia Stale.
Since it mainly affects groups with many women, the proposal risks hitting them doubly hard, she explains.
Stale stresses that Saco believes the fundamental principles of the pension system are too important to become a contentious issue or an election issue.
There are few systems that need such a long-term perspective, because this concerns generations to come. This needs to be handled with a broad sense of responsibility.
