We already see today that certain groups of academics are actually losing out by studying, and further worsening the economic situation by penalising studies by not making them pensionable would be devastating, says Saco's chairwoman Sofia Ståle.
Since it mainly concerns groups with many women, the proposal risks hitting them doubly hard, she explains.
Ståle emphasizes that Saco believes the fundamental principles of the pension system are too important to become a contentious or election issue.
There are few systems that need to be so long-term because it concerns generations to come. This needs to be handled with a broad sense of responsibility.
