The unmanned combat planes will have more punch than drones and will be able to fly close to a traditional combat plane and act with the help of AI.

The pilot in the combat plane can use the unmanned plane for risky missions, such as flying far into hostile areas to strike a target.

Saab will make the first flights next year to finally get an unmanned combat plane.

Johansson opens up for cooperation with other defense industry companies and says that the new planes will be ready for delivery to potential buyers 2029–2030.

In partnership or on our own, we must have something that can be on the market then. It will definitely be before 2030 that we have a product ready, he says.
