The Swedish defense group Saab proposes a subscription model for weapon systems, says CEO Micael Johansson to the magazine Børsen.

Johansson means that a subscription to a weapons system can contribute to meeting Europe's growing need for military buildup.

He tells Børsen that "an enormous amount of money" is currently being invested in developing the defense industry's production capacity, but that it is currently unclear exactly what capacity level is needed.

Saab has, according to Johansson, therefore initiated discussions with the Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to develop a subscription service.

We are working closely with FMV to develop a subscription service, where we receive ongoing payments to develop technologically advanced systems such as drones, says Johansson to Børsen and continues:

In return, we have the production capacity ready until there is actually a need for the systems.

Saab manufactures, among other things, the fighter aircraft Gripen.
