Four people have been killed in a Russian drone attack in Ukraine, Ukraine's rescue services say. Russia reports an attack on an oil depot.

The attack, which killed several people, struck a residential area in Cherkasy in the Kramatorsk district of eastern Ukraine.

One of the dead was a five-year-old boy.

In the city of Penza in western Russia, an oil depot caught fire after a drone attack, according to the region's governor, Oleg Melnichenko.

The oil depot is located nearly 620 kilometers from the front line. No deaths or injuries have been reported from there.

The statement does not mention the origin of the drones, but according to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses have intercepted at least twelve Ukrainian drones during the night, including one over the Penza region.

Ukraine has not commented on the information.
