Ukraine and Russia have exchanged 175 prisoners of war each, reports the Russian Defense Ministry. The United Arab Emirates has acted as mediator in the exchange.
The planned prisoner exchange was announced after Tuesday's phone call between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Russia also handed over 22 seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers as a "gesture of goodwill".
The two countries have exchanged hundreds of prisoners of war since Moscow launched its large-scale offensive in Ukraine in February 2022.
