Rubensson recently broke her contract with American Houston Dash after just nine months in the club. On Friday, it became clear that she is returning to her last Swedish team, Damallsvenskan BK Häcken.

"It's a fantastic club and I feel at home here. BK Häcken stands for equality and good conditions on and off the pitch", says Rubensson to the club's website.

The contract extends over 2027 and from Häcken's side, they are thrilled to get Rubensson back, who was awarded the Diamond Ball last year.

"We get one of the world's best defensive midfielders in the squad. Elin Rubensson brings both experience and professionalism and is a player who knows what it takes to be at the highest level", says Christina Lundström, sports manager for Häcken's women.

Elin Rubensson has previously played three seasons in Häcken, and 14 in Damallsvenskan.

After breaking her contract with Houston, there were rumors that she was on her way to newcomers Malmö FF. But for the Scanian Rubensson, Häcken was the obvious choice, and now she's aiming high.

"A big goal is to help the team to its first Swedish Championship gold", says Elin Rubensson.

In 88 matches for Häcken, Rubensson has so far scored 17 goals and 15 assists.
