The Danish energy group Ørsted reports an unexpectedly strong result for the year. In connection with the quarterly report, Ørsted announces that it is discontinuing the Hornsea 4 project - a planned offshore wind farm in the North Sea, off the British Yorkshire coast.

Ørsted motivates the decision to stop Hornsea 4 with high interest rates and expensive input goods, as well as a new risk assessment of the deal, when it comes to the building and operation of the wind farm.

The company expects the decision to discontinue the project to amount to 3.5-4.5 billion Danish kronor, including write-downs of 0.5-1.0 billion and fees for breaking contracts with the UK.

The operating profit for the first quarter by 18 per cent to 8.9 billion Danish kronor. This can be compared to an average forecast among analysts of 8.4 billion, according to Bloomberg.

The turnover increased by 8 per cent compared to the first quarter last year to 20.7 billion, in line with expectations.
