The Swede is a phenomenon and it's only a matter of time before he does like coach Ruben Amorim and leaves the club, believes Portuguese newspaper A Bola, in a chronicle by Fernando Urbano.
The match was 39-year-old Amorim's last home game in the league as coach for Sporting. On Friday, he was presented as the new head coach for Premier League club Manchester United, where he begins on November 11.
In a press conference after the match, Amorim said he had wanted to finish the season with Sporting and not switch so quickly.
But the answer I got was now or never. I had three days to make a decision, said Amorim.
He plans to take some colleagues with him in the move to England but promises not to try to recruit players from Sporting when the transfer window opens in January.
Boiling speculation
The speculation is now boiling over about when Viktor Gyökeres will also leave. In Friday's match, he took the opportunity to showcase himself from his best side, notes the columnist in A Bola. It is noted that the Swede did it in a match where many visiting British journalists were present to write about Amorim.
What does Gyökeres say himself? Will he be able to follow Amorim?
I don't know, I'm here now and I really like being here. I'm not thinking about it, I'm enjoying it here, says Gyökeres to Sport TV after the match.
The goal-getter started by screwing in 1–0 in the far corner in the 19th minute and thundered in 2–0 in the 31st. He then put in 3–1 on a penalty with a few minutes left until halftime and had scored a genuine hat-trick on the scoreboard.
But a bit into the second half, he struck again with 4–1, after a counterattack where he sprinted away from the opposing defense and shot into the far corner.
16 goals so far
For the 26-year-old, it's just a continuation of the ongoing goal success. It's the fourth match in a row that he scores and in total, Gyökeres is up to 16 goals in ten league matches.
When Ruben Amorim leaves, Gyökeres and his teammates will miss him.
It's sad that he's leaving, he's been very good for us, says Gyökeres to Sport TV.
