The magazine Forbes makes a list every year of the athletes with the highest income between May 1, 2024 and May 1, 2025.

At the top - for the third year in a row - is Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 40-year-old striker has, according to the business magazine, brought in over 2.7 billion Swedish kronor, if you count both salary and business ventures on the side.

The Portuguese's annual income is the third highest ever for an athlete - only surpassed by boxer Floyd Mayweather, who in 2015 brought in over 2.9 billion kronor and in 2018 over 2.75 billion kronor.

The closest challenger to Ronaldo on the list has earned approximately 1.5 billion kronor.

Among the top ten highest-paid athletes, there is a clear connection to Saudi Arabia, writes Forbes. Curry and baseball player Shohei Ohtani are the only ones on the top ten list who do not have a known business connection to Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo plays for the Saudi club Al Nassr on a daily basis.

The highest-paid female athlete is, according to Forbes, tennis star Coco Gauff, over 332 million kronor. But she does not get into the top 50.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, football: over 2.7 billion kronor.

2. Stephen Curry, basketball: 1.5 billion kronor.

3. Tyson Fury, boxing: 1.4 billion kronor.

4. Dak Prescott, American football: 1.3 billion kronor.

5. Lionel Messi, football: 1.3 billion kronor.
