Fridolina Rolfö Stays in Sweden's European Championship Squad

Fridolina Rolfö will remain in Sweden's European Championship squad. This means that the reserve Matilda Vinberg will have to leave the football championship. She is a class player of course, says team captain Kosovare Asllani.

Rolfö, who is still a big question mark due to a foot injury, will not play in Sweden's first match against Denmark tomorrow.

The hope is, however, that she will be able to be ready for the final group stage match against Germany on July 12. Therefore, the national team management chooses to take a chance on having her remain in the squad.

"After this week's progress, we have now made the decision that Fridolina Rolfö will continue to be part of the Swedish European Championship squad", says national team coach Peter Gerhardsson in a statement.

Barcelona star Rolfö injured her ankle in the Nations League match against Denmark at the beginning of June and has not played since then.

The final squad must be announced by 6 pm at the latest, i.e. one day before the premiere.

Tottenham's Matilda Vinberg, who has been included as a reserve in Switzerland, will leave the squad after the premiere.

"The decision means that Matilda Vinberg will travel home from Switzerland on Saturday. We all thank Matilda for her professionalism and commitment since we gathered in Åhus last week", says Peter Gerhardsson.

Captain Kosovare Asllani is pleased with the message.

Incredibly fun that "Fidde" is in the squad and especially nice for her considering it was a bit tough weeks and a lot of uncertainty. But important for her and important for us. She is a class player, of course. Now the squad is set, says Asllani and continues:

And I also want to give praise to Matilda Vinberg who has been here and contributed to the training sessions.
