The 21-kilometer race was held in Beijing and the winner - a robot from Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor - ran in 50 minutes and 26 seconds.
The time is significantly faster than the human world record holder, Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda - who ran the same distance in about 57 minutes in Lisbon in March.
The robot's performance surpasses last year's first race, where the winning robot completed the same distance in two hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds.
But this year's robot race wasn't without its share of problems. One robot fell flat at the starting line and another crashed straight into a fence.
