The Norwegians Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang were disqualified on the second-to-last day of the World Championship in ski jumping after being caught using manipulated competition suits.
Robert Johansson also participated in the final ski jumping competition, in the large hill, but despite controls, no faults were found with his suit.
After the World Championship, he was still banned, along with several other Norwegian jumpers, but what the International Ski Federation (Fis) based the ban on, he still does not know.
It feels like I was banned because I'm Norwegian. That's what's bitter, says Johansson, who took three medals, including one gold, at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang 2018, to TV2.
He is now ending his career, which was the plan for some time. The dream was to do the last four World Cup competitions – in Holmenkollen, Vikersund, Lahtis, and Planica – to get a proper farewell.
The ban, which was lifted only after the season, put a stop to that. Bitter, says the 35-year-old.
Yes, 100 percent. It's bitter not to be able to end the season and career as usual.
TV2 has repeatedly sought out Fis to get answers, among other things, on why several Norwegian jumpers were banned, but the federation has referred to not wanting to comment on an ongoing investigation.
Robert Johansson hopes to eventually get an answer.
I hope so. But I'm not sure.
