62 percent of those who applied for higher education are women, and the largest age group of applicants is 20-24 years old. The percentage-wise largest increase in applicants has been in optician education (21 percent), followed by biomedical analyst (11 percent) and occupational therapist (8 percent).
On the other hand, fewer people want to become social workers or vocational teachers, with interest in these educations decreasing by two percent, according to statistics from UHR (Swedish Higher Education Authority).
More people are applying for courses than for programs. Uppsala University has the largest number of applicants, followed by Stockholm University and Gothenburg University.
Dalarna University College has the largest percentage increase in applicants, followed by the Swedish Defence University in Stockholm and Johannelund School of Theology.
