Riksbank wants more ways to make instant payments

90 percent of all payments in stores in Sweden are made with cards, the majority with Visa or Mastercard. The concentration in a few services and countries can make the Swedish payments market vulnerable, the Swedish Central Bank states in its new payments report.

Swish has been a great national success and the Swedish Central Bank now wants the major Swedish banks to continue developing payment services to reduce dependence on external providers.

Above all, there needs to be more solutions beyond Swish to be able to make instant payments across different banks - both for individuals and companies.
