M-profile Richard Herrey leaves the Moderate Party.

"I have made the decision to end my membership in the Moderates and immediately leave my elected seat in the Nacka City Council. I have also informed the party that I will not run for the Moderates in the 2026 election," he writes on Facebook.

What is behind the defection is not clear from Herrey's statement. He writes that "new chapters and challenges in life await."

Herrey, 61 years old, broke through, together with his brothers, when he won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1984 with the song Diggi-loo diggi-ley.

He has been a member of parliament for the Moderate Party for short periods in the years 2019–2022.
