The equipment the emergency services have is intended and sized for peacetime.
"During war or heightened alert, different demands are placed on endurance, robustness and the ability to operate under stress," the Swedish Civil Defence Agency (MCF) said in a press release.
MCF is now distributing new modules that will strengthen rescue services in 25 locations in Sweden. They contain selected equipment that can be stored long-term and quickly deployed.
This includes equipment for securing rubble, stretchers, hand tools, pumps, ropes, medical supplies and mine warning signs.
At the same time, staff training is underway.
