The crime occurred on February 8th outside central Umeå.
"My opinion is that the animal cruelty should be assessed as gross, since the reindeer were subjected to serious suffering," says Assistant Prosecutor Anna Nilsson in a press release.
The evidence consists of, among other things, films, an examination of the car that hit the reindeer, and the forensic autopsy of the reindeer.
Initially, the incident was linked to a rally conflict and there was information that there could be a hate crime motive, but the prosecutor emphasizes that there is nothing in the investigation that indicates this.
