The fact that they are issuing their highest warning is due to the risk of rapidly rising water levels caused by earlier snowmelt and rain.
The high flows increase the risk of landslides, erosion and rockfalls. The fact that it can move extremely fast also makes it associated with mortal danger if one is in or near the watercourse, writes SMHI on its website.
The warning applies to the area between the outlet of the lakes Mevattnet and Stor-Arksjön.
On Thursday and Friday, the red warning will be downgraded to orange in the same area.
