In total, 93,000 people have registered to take the university entrance exam on Saturday, April 5. The figure is the highest in over 30 years, reports P4 Blekinge.
According to Dani Backteg, press chief at the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR), the increase is likely due to a worse job market and greater competition for university places, while the age groups are growing.
Those who take the university entrance exam can increase their chances of being accepted into a university education with high competition for places. The exam is usually held twice a year at approximately 120 locations across the country. Those who take the exam must be at least 18 years old during the year the exam is held.
