Interest in summer courses at universities and colleges has been record-high this year. The reason is believed to be a tough labor market that makes students want to study to improve their CVs and receive student financial aid.
That more people are applying is in line with how it looks when it is more uncertain on the labor market, says Robin Johansson, unit manager at the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UHR) to SVT News.
Interest in summer courses has almost tripled since 2008 and over 65,000 people applied this year. Among the 20 most popular courses was "Bread and bread baking".
The number of people who applied for student financial aid this summer is over 22,000 people, according to statistics from CSN.
