She set a season best of 70.43 meters. But to reach a World Championship final, the length was not enough for the hammer thrower Rebecka Hallerth.

It was one of my best throws ever. It is very annoying that it is so little more that is required to reach the final, she says in the catacombs of the arena in Tokyo.

The 29-year-old finished in 14th place, 27 centimeters from Nicola Tuthill, Ireland, who took the twelfth and last final spot.

In the European Championship last year, I made three crosses and in the team European Championship I put all three in the pole vault, this was still a big step forward. This was an incredible experience to bring to the next World Championship and all other championships, says Hallerth.

Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, there was an incorrect formulation of what was required for Hallerth to reach the final.
