Bachmann has previously played for clubs such as Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, and in Sweden she has represented Umeå and Rosengård as a Swiss player.
The 34-year-old now belongs to the American club Houston Dash. But this year, Bachmann has only made four appearances for the club and national team due to injury problems.
The forward was on the way back from injuries, but with three weeks left until the home European Championship, Bachmann injured her knee during a training session with the national team, reports Blick.
It is clear that Bachmann will miss the championship – a major headache for Swiss national team coach Pia Sundhage.
Bachmann has played 153 matches for the Swiss national team and has scored 60 goals.
The European Championship in Switzerland will be played from 2–27 July.
